ਬਿਖਰਿਆ ਵਿਚ ਆਸਮਾਨ ਦੇ,
ਬਿਰਹੋਂ ਦੇ ਦੋਜ਼ਖ਼ ਪੈ ਰਿਹੈ ਸੜਨਾ।
ਲਿਸ਼ਕ-ਲਿਸ਼ਕ ਮਹਿਬੂਬ ਤੇ ਮਰਨਾ,
ਮੁੱਕਿਆ, ਮੇਰਾ ਸਾਉਣ ‘ਚ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ।
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ?
ਪੰਜ ਦਰਿਆ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਪੱਧਰੀ,
ਬੂਟਾ-ਬੂਟਾ ਵੱਢ ਮੁਕਾਇਆ,
ਸੀਨੇ ਦੇ ਵਿਚ ਦਰਦ ਬੜਾ।
ਕਿਸ ਮਹਿਬੂਬ ਦੇ ਸਦਕੇ ਜਾਣਾ,
ਕੀਹਨੂੰ ਝੁਕ-ਝੁਕ ਸਜ਼ਦਾ ਕਰਨਾ?
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ?
ਗੁੱਡੀਆਂ ਫੂਕਣ ਚੱਲੀਆਂ ਬੁੜ੍ਹੀਆਂ,
ਧੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਜੋ ਦਰਦ ਬੜੇ।
ਜੇਠ-ਹਾੜ ਦੀ ਤਪਸ਼ ਦੇ ਸਾੜੇ,
ਵਰ੍ਹਜਾ! ਆਖਣ, ਸਾਉਣ ਚੜੇ।
ਮੁੱਕ ਚੱਲੀਆਂ ਨੇ ਕੁੜੀਆਂ-ਚਿੜੀਆਂ
ਪੱਥਰਾਂ ਕੀ ਪਛਤਾਵਾ ਕਰਨਾ?
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ?
ਪੱਥਰ ਦੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨੂੰ ਵੇਖੋ,
ਪੱਥਰ-ਯੁਗ ਦਾ ਫੁਰਨਾ ਫੁਰਿਆ।
ਗਰਭ ਕਰੇ ਮਸਨੂਈ ਸ਼ੈਅ ਤੇ,
ਪਥਰੀਲੇ ਜੰਗਲ ਫਿਰਦਾ ਤੁਰਿਆ।
ਇਸ ਪੱਥਰ ਨੇ ਤ੍ਰਿਸ਼ਨਾ-ਸਾਗਰ,
ਖੌਰੇ ਕਿਹੜੇ ਹਾਲੀਂ ਤਰਨਾ।
ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ, ਕਿੱਥੇ ਵਰ੍ਹਨਾ?

The ecological system of the land of punjab state in India is getting worse day by day. This is because of the irresponsible deforestation of the land. Times have gone when this land used to be a land with big forest cover , a land of verdure. But as the time is passing it is becoming bald, with a handful of trees. Let's hope for the best.
